Porcelain Veneers Candidates
——

Porcelain veneers are an excellent cosmetic dentistry solution for anyone who has a few teeth that have an inconsistent appearance, but are not damaged or misaligned enough to warrant a more invasive procedure or the significant time commitment of orthodontic treatments such as braces. If you have ever wondered how a slight improvement to one or two teeth could substantially enhance your smile, and if you are willing to commit to a permanent alteration to those teeth, porcelain veneers could allow you to enjoy a whole new smile in as little as two weeks. If you are considering a full mouth reconstruction, one or two porcelain veneers can put the beautiful finishing touches on your healthy, functional new smile. Contact our Lubbock office today if you would like to discuss porcelain veneers with Dr. White.

Placing Porcelain Veneers
——

The placement of porcelain veneers begins with a local anesthetic to help ensure your comfort during treatment. Next, Dr. White will remove a portion of the enamel from the front surface of the tooth you wish to treat. The amount removed is roughly equal to the thickness of an egg shell. Next, he will take a mold of the tooth as well as your surrounding teeth, which will be used in a laboratory to create your custom veneer. Dr. White will also note the color of your surrounding teeth to guide technicians in creating a natural-looking veneer that sits beautifully within your smile.

You will return in about two weeks to have your custom veneer placed on the tooth. Dr. White will create light etchings on the surface of the tooth, which will help the veneer to bond. Before securing the veneer permanently in place, he will place it without the bonding agent to ensure a proper fit. Next, the bonding agent is applied, the veneer is set in place, and a special curing light is used to secure the veneer to the tooth. Finally, you will leave Dr. White’s office with a stunning new smile.

Caring For Your Veneers
——

It is important to understand that a veneer is not meant to last forever, but with proper care, it can provide years of amazing smiles. It is very important to avoid using your veneer to bite or chew ice, pen caps, fingernails, and other brittle objects or foods.
