Porcelain Veneers

If you have a tooth that is cracked, discolored, or misshapen, Dr. White can attach a custom-made porcelain shell to the front of the tooth, giving it a look that is consistent with surrounding teeth in shape, spacing, and color. You will be amazed at the difference a single veneer can make in the appearance of your smile. Learn more about this cosmetic dentistry treatment offered at our Lubbock office.

Porcelain Veneers Candidates

Porcelain veneers are an excellent cosmetic dentistry solution for anyone who has a few teeth that have an inconsistent appearance, but are not damaged or misaligned enough to warrant a more invasive procedure or the significant time commitment of orthodontic treatments such as braces. If you have ever wondered how a slight improvement to one or two teeth could substantially enhance your smile, and if you are willing to commit to a permanent alteration to those teeth, porcelain veneers could allow you to enjoy a whole new smile in as little as two weeks. If you are considering a full mouth reconstruction, one or two porcelain veneers can put the beautiful finishing touches on your healthy, functional new smile. Contact our Lubbock office today if you would like to discuss porcelain veneers with Dr. White.

Placing Porcelain Veneers

The placement of porcelain veneers begins with a local anesthetic to help ensure your comfort during treatment. Next, Dr. White will remove a portion of the enamel from the front surface of the tooth you wish to treat. The amount removed is roughly equal to the thickness of an egg shell. Next, he will take a mold of the tooth as well as your surrounding teeth, which will be used in a laboratory to create your custom veneer. Dr. White will also note the color of your surrounding teeth to guide technicians in creating a natural-looking veneer that sits beautifully within your smile.

You will return in about two weeks to have your custom veneer placed on the tooth. Dr. White will create light etchings on the surface of the tooth, which will help the veneer to bond. Before securing the veneer permanently in place, he will place it without the bonding agent to ensure a proper fit. Next, the bonding agent is applied, the veneer is set in place, and a special curing light is used to secure the veneer to the tooth. Finally, you will leave Dr. White’s office with a stunning new smile.

Caring For Your Veneers

It is important to understand that a veneer is not meant to last forever, but with proper care, it can provide years of amazing smiles. It is very important to avoid using your veneer to bite or chew ice, pen caps, fingernails, and other brittle objects or foods.

Don’t let a few minor inconsistencies in your teeth stand in the way of your having an incredible smile. While a dental crown is a suitable solution for a tooth that is significantly damaged, a porcelain veneer placed at our Lubbock office can be a better solution if your tooth is only slightly misaligned, misshapen, discolored, or damaged. Contact us today to find out whether porcelain veneers are a suitable solution for you.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

Injury, decay, and other factors can cause our teeth and gums to develop a range of issues, each requiring unique treatments to restore health and beauty to your smile. Dr. White can tailor a full mouth reconstruction to your specific needs and goals, encompassing veneers, teeth whitening, dental implants, and more.

Reconstructive Procedures

Healthy gums and teeth are the foundation of every beautiful smile. Depending upon your goals and needs, reconstructive procedures may need to be performed before Dr. White can begin addressing the aesthetic aspects of your smile. If you are missing teeth, or have teeth that have suffered decay, a dental crown or bridge may be necessary. These tooth-shaped prosthetics are custom-made from a porcelain-like material to blend in with your existing teeth, giving you a natural-looking enhancement. Depending upon the condition of the teeth you wish to restore with a crown, root canal therapy, or the removal of a tooth’s decayed inner portions, may be necessary. However, if decay has become too advanced, or if a tooth is too damaged to accommodate a crown, a dental implant may be necessary. These titanium posts are surgically implanted in the jaw, providing many years of excellent support.

Cosmetic Procedures

Once a healthy foundation of healthy teeth and gums is established – or if your teeth and gums are already in excellent condition – cosmetic procedures can give your smile a dazzling appearance that will make you feel great, while making a lasting impression on everyone you meet. If one or more of your teeth have an alignment issue, minor chips or cracks, or discoloration, porcelain veneers can make a tremendous difference. These custom-made porcelain shells attach to the front surfaces of your teeth, giving them an appearance consistent with your surrounding teeth. If excessive gum tissue is covering your teeth, gum reshaping can help you teeth look longer and healthier, while giving them a more attractive frame. Dr. White also provides teeth whitening, which can lighten the shade of your teeth if they are naturally dark, or if they have become stained by tobacco use or intake or certain foods.

Teeth Whitening

Bright, white teeth are an important part of a beautiful smile. Smoking, foods such as wine and yellow mustard, and genetics can all cause the teeth to take on a darker shade. Our in-office whitening treatment can lighten your teeth by more than seven shades, helping your smile take on a bright, charming new look. We also offer custom take-home kits.

Zoom!® Whitening

We use the Zoom!® Whitening process to help our patients achieve a smile that is up to 12 shades lighter, in as little as an hour. The process begins with a teeth cleaning to remove plaque and debris. Next, a special mouth guard is put in place to protect the lips, and special cloth is used to isolate the teeth from the gums, tongue, and cheeks. A whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide is then placed on the teeth. Next, a special light is trained on the teeth, intensifying the effects of the gel. As the gel breaks down, oxygen enters the tooth enamel, bleaching deep discoloration. After 15 minutes, the gel is removed. This process is repeated a total of three times.

You will receive special instructions for prolonging the effects of Zoom!® following your treatment, including flossing, brushing, and using Zoom!® take-home gel as directed. To learn more about this advanced method of teeth whitening, please contact our Lubbock office today.

Zoom!® Candidates

Almost anyone can benefit from Zoom!® teeth whitening, but the extent of the whitening a person can achieve differs from case to case. Dr. White is committed to helping patients understand their options when seeking cosmetic dentistry treatment, so he will perform an oral exam to determine whether this treatment will produce the results you want. Zoom!® is not recommended for patients under the age of 13, or women who are pregnant or lactating.

Gum Reshaping

Excessive gum tissue can cause the teeth to look short and unhealthy. Dr. White provides gum reshaping, a technique that can help you get rid of excessive gum tissue, while framing your teeth in a more attractive way. This treatment can help your smile look healthier and more symmetrical.

The Advantages Of Reshaping

Gum reshaping helps you to achieve two very important characteristics of a dazzling smile. First, it helps to reveal more of your beautiful, healthy teeth. When excess gum tissue covers a large portion of your teeth, it creates the illusion that your teeth are misshapen, underdeveloped, or worn. Gum reshaping gives your teeth the long, healthy appearance that makes any smile a winner. Gum reshaping also helps you to achieve symmetry in your smile. Imagine a line extending down the center of your smile, between your two front teeth. If the gum tissue is uneven from one side of your smile to the other, it can detract from the healthy, balanced look you desire.

The use of lasers in our gum reshaping procedure further benefits patients. Lasers are extremely accurate, providing you with beautifully shaped gums. Performing gum reshaping with a laser also results in significantly less pain than using conventional tools such as scalpels. Your gums will heal much more quickly following laser treatment, with only a very small amount of blood loss and swelling.

Reframe Your Smile

Excess gum tissue can conceal the naturally beautiful shape and color of your teeth. If excessive or uneven gum tissue is standing in the way of a wonderful smile, gum reshaping performed at our Lubbock, West Texas office can help you reveal the smile you never knew you had. We are proud to offer this advanced, safe, and virtually painless treatment to our patients. Dr. White takes your teeth and gums very seriously, and loves helping his patients experience the countless benefits of an incredible smile.
